Welcome to The World!
This website is a play-by-post role-playing message board where you and those who participate on this site are writing in-character of the player they have created, interacting with the other players and the environment which this world takes place in. The basis of the story you and we create is based on the multimedia franchise ".hack" that began as manga, anime, and video game in 2002 and has continued to grow in the next 20 years from then.
In our universe, all home computer operating systems were taken down except for one called ALTIMIT. Every player here only has a PC or mobile device running ALTIMIT operating system. And in that OS, there are various games created by the company CC Corporation. Their main attraction is called "The World."
To quote Bear "The World doesn't specify a goal, each player is free to choose how they play. There will always be those who abuse the system for personal gains." But to sum up quickly what The World is.. It's a sci-fi fantasy environment MMORPG video game. Mixing sword, magic, creatures, races, summons, spirits, gods, monsters, and technology. When you enter The World, you in the real world are wearing a type of head visor either referred to as a HMD or head mount display or a FMD a face mount display, depending on which your character has chosen to use in this fictional real world along with a video game controller.
All that you say and do should be written in-character, all out-of-character discussion should be held over on our Discord server in the role-play support channels.
FAQ's
Q. When does this The World VX Reborn take place?
A. It does not take place in any specific iteration of The World such as The World, The World R:2, The World R:X, The World FORCE:ERA, VS The World, The World Armed Conflict, or The World re:Vice Age. But rather picks and pulls elements from all versions of The World hence the name VX for version XXX and reborn as making it all into something anew.
Q. Who are the .hackers?
A. In universe they were the ones who defeated Morganna Mode Gone, the characters have been preregistered to ensure nobody attempts to take them for themselves. But they will be offered to the public in public events.
Q. Am I allowed to use my story knowledge from the franchise to my benefit?
A. Assume that all players playing The World VX Reborn has no knowledge of the chronological events from the franchise, and rather that we are hand selecting elements from all entries from the franchise, that everything is brand new and the narrative will be shifting from it's original outcome.
Q. Are PK'ers, PKK'ers, and PK'ing running rampant here?
A. PK'ing is allowed, but whether it's running rampant will depend on the actions of the majority of the players playing here. If it becomes overwhelming like it did in R:2, expect to hear an announcement officially on the Web News.
Q. What about Key of the Twilight, Twilight Bracelet, Cursed Wave, Epitaph's, Epitaph User's, Soul Digitalization, and Real Digitalization?
A. Some of these namesakes will follow the character they are known for, our staff may also bestow more onto other players but only at the staff's direction, but rest assured what made .hack interesting will follow to this narrative being introduced slowly one at a time.
Q. Player X is godmodding me, is this allowed?
A. No, all players must be in agreement before forcing actions upon others prior to posting. So please discuss with your fellow players OOC either in Private Message here on the site or via DM on our Discord chat channel. If an agreement can not be reached, then the staff team will assume harassment and end it.
Q. Is adult content allowed?
A. No, we want to make this site available for people of all ages, therefore adult content or suggested adult content is not acceptable here. Things we consider adult content include but not limited to nudity, sexual activity, rape, masochism, pedophilia, illicit drug activity, suicide, homicide, etc...
Q. Can I be part of the canon guilds/@homes?
A. Only if your character has been added to them on our guilds/@home page. You can not claim have been or currently are in canonical groups such as Cobalt Knight's, Cerulean Knight's, Crimson Knight's, Raven's Guild, etc... unless your character is actually in that group.
Q. What about being a hacker, wandering AI, a CC Corp employee, debug team, creator of The World, or comatose patient?
A. Not unless approved by members of the staff. However you can call yourself a hacker, just not one that has broken through CC Corp's security. That will require staff approval.
Q. Can I start off with a rare class?
A. All classes must be chosen during your registration. If you do not see the class you want on this list, assume that it's reserved and obtained for later use.
Q. If I die in game, do I die in real life?
A. No, this is not Sword Art Online. Death just means you loose your progress and experience points, you will not be put into a coma unless directed by staff as part of a story line plot.
Rules
With any community based activity, there are a set of rules all persons must abide by to maintain order and safety for everyone. Negligence on your part of these rules can and may lead to a warning, a suspension, or termination from this site.
- Be considerate for others and be responsible/respectful in all you say and do.
- Listen and cooperate with members of staff.
- Please keep all posts and/or conversations in their respective sections.
- Advertising is not allowed, you are in-universe therefore advertising your site, social media account/page, NFT or cryptocurrency, chatroom is not allowed.
- Absolutely no not safe for work (NSFW) content allowed, period.
